We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our machine shop team. As a Quality Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all products meet our high standards of quality and precision before they are delivered to our customers. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of our manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
Inspection and Testing: Conduct thorough inspections of machined parts and components throughout the production process to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards. Documentation: Accurately document inspection results, non-conformities, and any corrective actions taken using designated quality control tools and systems (e.g., inspection reports, quality logs). Dimensional and Visual Checks: Perform dimensional measurements and visual inspections using precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators. First Article Inspection (FAI): Conduct FAI on new parts or first production runs to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and customer requirements. Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and identify root causes of non-conforming parts or process deviations, and collaborate with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions. Quality Assurance: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance programs and procedures to ensure continuous improvement in product quality and manufacturing efficiency. Communication: Communicate effectively with production personnel, engineers, and supervisors regarding quality issues, inspection results, and any necessary adjustments to production processes. Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant quality standards, regulations, and company policies throughout the inspection and production processes. Requirements: - Proven experience as a Quality Inspector or similar role in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and quality control methods.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience with precision measurement tools and equipment.
- Solid knowledge of quality management systems and practices (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications: - Certification in quality inspection (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
- Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and related software.
Working Conditions: - This position typically operates within a manufacturing environment, involving exposure to machinery, noise, and occasionally hazardous materials.
