Overview

This is a hybrid role (with the option to work full time onsite) with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

First Citizens Technology, Media and Telecommunications provides cash flow and asset based senior debt for communications and technology companies in the middle market throughout the United States.

This Underwriter II supports the Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) team through underwriting, analysis, and structuring recommendations for TMT portfolios. Identifies, gathers, and reviews financial information to determine borrower risk ratings and appropriate loan structuring. Assesses and communicates risks within new and existing TMT accounts. Provides service and support for both associates and clients, assisting in customer calls.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all stages of a prospective TMT loan transaction, including due diligence, financial modeling, credit approval memo preparation and presentation, legal documentation and post-investment portfolio management
  • Complete in-depth analysis of potential borrowers' business models and identify key potential investment risks and analyze financial trends to build projection models
  • Participate in calls and meetings with potential corporate borrowers, private equity sponsors
  • Assist with prepare of comprehensive credit approval memoranda and presention to credit investment committee
  • Manage loan transaction workflow process and procedure
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with all FCB policies and procedures and build a firm understanding of FCB systems and resources

Qualifications

    Required
    Bachelor's Degree and 1 year of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and historical financial analysis OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and historical financial analysis.
    Preferred
    Education Bachelors Preferred Business, Finance, Economics
    Skill(s): Completion of a formal credit training program
    Ability to effectively manage multiple, simultaneous project deadlines with a strong sense of accountability and commitment
    Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills
    Excellent oral and written communications skills
    Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel
    Strong attention to detail
    Ability to function independently and as part of a small team

The base pay for this position is generally between $100,000 and $110,000 per year. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
