Position Overview

Looking to get your foot in the door in the sports media industry? The KSL Sports is looking for a creative, hardworking, motivated employee to join our team. Our digital insiders are responsible for digital coverage of a specific team/organization in the Salt Lake market, providing coverage online and on social media with regards to news/stories regarding their specific beat.

Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

  • This position is a hybrid role that allows the employee to work either at our Salt Lake site or at home. However, there will be in-person events that require attendance in Salt Lake City.


What You Will Do:

Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Attend University of Utah athletics games, events, practices (including but not limited to football, basketball, gymnastics, etc.)
  • Build and maintain relationships with important people in and around University of Utah athletics programs
  • Write and edit articles about Utah athletics (including but not limited to breaking news, game previews, game analysis, player/coach interviews, etc.)
  • Record video and audio of events, practices to share with KSL Sports Zone/KSL-TV teams
  • Shoot and edit photo and video for social media platforms
  • Create unique content regarding University of Utah athletics programs to be represented in written form and on social media


Competencies:
  • Writing Excellence - Proficiency in AP style writing is required for this position
  • Collaborative Mindset - Work across platforms, collaborating with KSL Sports Zone and KSL-TV teams, as well as the BYU insider for augmented Big 12 conference content.
  • Visual thinking - Thinking how content can be presented visually in either video or photo form on social media and web
  • Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Tech Savvy - Anticipating and adopting innovations in business-building digital and technology applications.
  • Builds networks - Effectively building formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization.


Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
  • High School graduate or G.E.D
  • Proficient with Wordpress and Microsoft 365 suite, ability to learn other content management systems quickly
  • Skills with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Ability to multitask
  • Time management and attention to detail
  • Effective communication -
  • Writing skills preferred


Physical Demands
  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion / frequently.


Compensation

$50,000 - $70,000. Salary is to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
