Position Summary

As the first point of contact, the Front Desk Services Receptionist is responsible for ensuring visitors and internal callers receive an exceptional customer service experience by creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. This individual must be able to communicate positively and effectively when dealing with visitors and respond to inquiries efficiently.

Salary Range

$30,400 to $47,610

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensures excellent customer service standards are met by providing information and assistance to visitors and internal callers in a timely and efficient manner;
    • Serves as the initial point of contact for visitors;
    • Welcomes on-site visitors, answers inquiries, determines nature of business, and provides visitors with addresses, directions, and other pertinent information;
    • Ensures a smooth and efficient operation of the receptionist area;
    • Handles and distributes all mail and package deliveries;
    • Answers internal calls, determines purpose of callers, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel;
    • Ensures office coverage when absent from work or receptionist area;
    • Provides administrative or clerical support as needed for building events or activities;
    • Greets and maintains a professional, calm, and courteous demeanor at all times when dealing with visitors;
    • Responds proactively and calmly when handling difficult situations;
    • Maintains a neat and organized receptionist area;
    • Maintains an accurate database of tenants within the building and other facility duties as needed;
    • Projects a cheerful and positive attitude when dealing with the public and staff; and
    • Performs other duties as required.
Educational Background
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required;
    • Minimum of three years of experience in customer service, clerical, or administrative work strongly preferred.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred

    • Must be extremely dependable and punctual;
    • Professional appearance and a friendly and personable disposition.
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others and communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner.
    • Strong customer service focus with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and effectively manage time while making a good impression on visitors.
    • Strong accuracy and attention to detail skills to ensure visitors are given accurate information and mistakes are minimized.
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Programs and experience using office equipment.


$30,400 - $47,610 a year

Salaries are determined by educational background and/or relevant years of experience.

- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) part of the workday;

- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 30 pounds rarely;

- Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals) rarely;

- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely;

- Normal setting for this job is an office/school setting.

Performance Evaluation

The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification.
