The Kalpakoff family has four generations of experience in successfully operating a solid waste management company in California. Today, MVD is being operated by Joseph and Jonathan Kalpakoff (fourth generation). With over 350 employees, MVD provides exclusive collection services to a total of 31 local jurisdictions and is permitted to provide collection services in Fresno, Merced, Madera, Kings, and Tulare Counties.

FRONT END LOADER

SUMMARY: Reporting to the MRF Supervisor, the Lead Front Loader Operator is responsible for running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving a front loader while ensuring that all his/her efforts are compliant with the company health, safety, and environmental standards. Duties may include the operation of one or several types of power equipment to assist in the loading, unloading, and movement of material within the Materials Recovery Facility.

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WOULD BE EXPECTED TO:

  • Safely operate heavy power equipment to move materials in the facility.
  • Transport bulk materials to storage areas and scales to feed conveyors using the loader.
  • Load and move equipment or materials while coordinating machine actions with other yard activities in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
  • Safely load waste with appropriate weight using the loader.
  • Under the supervisor's direction, the lead will delegate tasks, set deadlines, and oversee daily team's operation.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections of assigned equipment and document checks utilizing the standard Daily Equipment Inspection (DEI) form and submit to the appropriate Supervisor.
  • Maintain scale clean to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Safely clear pathways for traffic.
  • Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by the company.
  • Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
  • Report all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions requiring maintenance or repair to the proper Supervisor.
  • Notifies Supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • Previous experience operation heavy equipment, preferably a front-end loader.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and to follow safe operating practices.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment.
  • Must possess strong people skills relating to good customer service.
  • Solid Waste industry experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written/verbal.
  • Exceptional listening, communication, follow-through, and people skills
  • Tenacious, critical thinking, meticulous analytical person
  • Leadership experience
POSITION LOCATION: Mid Valley Disposal has 8 locations throughout the Central Valley. This position is in Fresno on Elm Ave.

Job Type: Full-time. Schedule will be Monday through Friday occasionally Saturdays.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00
