POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Custodian - Setups

LOCATION/DEPT:Wonderland Camp and Conference Center

REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Supervisor

FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt

STATUS TYPE: RFT

MISSION

The Salvation Army Wonderland Camp and Conference Center exists to support the ministry of the Salvation Army by providing the opportunity to experience Christ through focused programs in a natural, safe, camp conference environment.

OUTCOMES

Ensure excellent service to Camp guests by keeping the Dining, Kitchen, Meeting and Housing facilities clean, neat and tidy. Any repairs that need to be done will be taken care of immediately or reported to the supervisor. The facilities will be kept free from garbage and will be maintained in all types of weather.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. As scheduled, cleaning of all of the rooms in the Dining Hall - 3 dining rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, and store rooms.
  2. Maintain a checklist for supplies, making supervisor aware of needs.
  3. Notify supervisor of items that need to be fixed/repaired on an as needed basis or sooner if it is an emergency.
  4. Able to setup meeting space as per the guest visit summary. (Tables, chairs and AV equipment).
  5. Able to clean meeting spaces and maintain the space during the guests stay.
  6. Able to clean bathrooms in any of the meeting spaces.
  7. Haul and dispose of all garbage from meeting spaces.
  8. Deliver and haul linens for the housekeeping department as needed.
  9. Ability to move beds if needed.
  10. Ability to handle small maintenance repairs, and assist with painting.
  11. Open facilities for groups.
  12. Shut down of facilities after groups use.
  13. Any other duties assigned.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

In contacts related to this position's duties this individual acts as a representative of the Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

The level of service provided to guests will also be evaluated.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a High School education or its equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 19.
  • Must be available for on call.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50+ lbs.
  • Must work with chemicals and cleaning equipment.
  • Must have drivers' license and pass MVR.

COMPETENCIES

  • Experience in cleaning and maintenance, with a camp setting desired.
  • Able to work well with others and willing to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Ability to accept authority and direction, accepting responsibility for assignments.
  • Must be flexible, available for all types of work and schedule as needed.
  • Understanding of how to work with chemicals, cleaning tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Able to keep an organized and clean area, looking for areas that need attention to detail.
  • Takes pride in their work.
  • In agreement with the goals and objectives of Wonderland Camp and Conference Center.
  • Supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

  • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
  • This individual will keep the Housekeeping Supervisor informed on all critical issues relating to there are of responsibility.
  • This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is required to do physical work and must have good physical and mental health.
  • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to set up meeting rooms, move furniture and chairs, use AV equipment, use chemicals, tools and maintenance equipment.
  • The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50+ lbs.
  • The work environment for this position includes a camping environment with a low to high noise level.
