Food Pantry Associate


Job Details

A nonprofit organization in New Jersey is actively seeking a new Food Pantry Associate for a great growth opportunity with their expanding team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the Pantry continues to provide food as a fully Choice Style Pantry for New Jersey families in need
  • Completing training as needed in software programs and utilize these programs to support Neighbor intake, check out and online ordering processes
  • Welcoming and supporting Pantry Volunteers
  • Stocking and maintaining pantry shelves, including inside walk-in refrigerator and walk-in freezer
  • Ensuring that all practices are compliant with federal, state and food bank expectations and requirements
  • Demonstrating a professional demeanor in interactions with all staff, partners, and government officials
  • Creating and maintaining a culture of caring for the neighbors we serve
  • Maintaining a system for listening to and learning from neighbors during pantry distribution

Position Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or higher
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills (English plus Spanish) are required
  • Previous experience working in retail, specifically a food store or food pantry, a plus
  • Knowledge of Chromebook/Gmail platforms and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to bend, stand, and lift at least 50 lbs. frequently
  • Positive, empathetic, and creative solutions-based attitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Timeliness, dependability and accountability are essential for success in this role
  • Following hiring, must successfully complete and stay up to date with food handling certification
