MECHANIC


SUMMARY: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanic to join our team, responsible for the maintenance and repair of all EPC equipment, including machinery deployed at the company farm. The ideal candidate will excel in implementing and managing maintenance tracking systems, conducting routine inspections, and performing on-site repairs.


Pay Range: $65,000-$75,000


POSITION: Mechanic

REPORTS TO: EPC President

TERMS/HOURS: Full-time

CLASSIFICATION: Salary/Exempt; Travel will be required


WORK AUTHORIZATION: US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Maintenance & Maintenance Tracking Systems

  • Responsible for all relevant maintenance, light repairs, and upkeep of equipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Identify and implement a suitable maintenance tracking program to monitor the maintenance requirements of all equipment, tools, machinery.
  • Proactively complete regular maintenance, on site and at the farm.
  • Continuously update and maintain the maintenance tracking system to ensure accurate records of all machinery at the farm and EPC sites.
  • Communicate with EPC and the farm on a weekly basis on upcoming maintenance needs, replacements needed while tools or equipment are down for maintenance.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment and keeps all tools & equipment clean. Reports to management any abuse of tools or equipment by its users.


Equipment and Tool Management

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive numbering system for all equipment and tools to ensure effective record keeping of existing equipment and tools.
  • The system for all equipment and tools should keep track of current prices, purchase prices and deployment locations to ensure efficient and cost-effective replacement of equipment and tools.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of equipment and too whereabouts for accountability and effective utilization.
  • Communicate with EPC and the farm on a weekly basis on the whereabouts and deployment timing of the equipment & when it may be available for use for a site.
  • Coordinate the transfer of the equipment & tools to the sites whether in-house delivery or by use of external 3rd party company.
  • Provides instruction and training in the proper methods and uses necessary to operate the tools and the equipment (if necessary).
  • Handles the disposal or replacement process when tools or equipment reaches the end of its useful life or is no longer cost-effective to maintain. This may involve selling off equipment, coordinating trade-ins, or managing equipment retirement in compliance with environmental regulations.


Routine Maintenance

  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, 100-point inspections, greasing, air filter replacements, tire rotations, etc., on all equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs for each piece of equipment and machinery, documenting inspections, repairs, replacements, etc.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, fluids, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.


On-site Repairs

  • Serve as the first line of defense for equipment breakdowns, promptly diagnosing and fixing issues on-site.
  • Transport equipment to the farm workshop for repairs when necessary, ensuring minimal downtime.


Vendor/Supplier/Service Provider Management

  • Coordinate with external vendors for repairs beyond the scope of on-site capabilities, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with equipment vendors, suppliers, and service providers. Assists with contract negotiations, coordinates equipment deliveries and pickups, and manages relationships to ensure timely and reliable equipment support.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanic, preferably in a similar agricultural or construction setting.
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing maintenance tracking systems.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, establishing networks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conduct routine maintenance tasks and diagnose equipment issues effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, CDL is a plus.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
  • Welding skills
  • OSHA 10, First Aid and CPR training, is a plus.



WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typical construction site environment.
  • Requires working in very hot (above 80 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Work around hazardous equipment.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods during the day.
  • Regularly use hands to reach; ability to talk and hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
