Assembly Planning Specialist


Job Details

We are seeking a seasoned Assembly Planning Specialist with expertise in managing conveyor systems in an automotive manufacturing environment. This role is crucial for overseeing an active conveyor project over the course of a year, managing contractors, and ensuring seamless implementation and documentation. The ideal candidate must be capable of working autonomously during weekends, providing essential project and document management, and maintaining effective communication with senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage the installation and upgrade of conveyor belt systems, ensuring timely progress and documenting all aspects of the project to provide regular updates to management.

  • Onsite Support: Provide direct support at the plant for assembly planning, including managing an active conveyor steel project and coordinating pre-construction and construction activities among engineers, inspectors, and contractors.

  • Specification Development: Create and develop specifications for new and existing manufacturing equipment.

  • Vendor Management: Select and manage vendors, oversee installation, commissioning, handover, and release to production, followed by post-release stand-by support.

  • Change Management & Documentation: Manage change processes and maintain thorough documentation to ensure project compliance and effectiveness.

  • Continual Improvement: Promote continuous improvement initiatives to develop a best-in-class production system, working closely with maintenance and production teams to reduce production delays caused by equipment issues.

  • Systems Development: Develop systems to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), analyze data to monitor performance, and plan improvements.

  • Safety & Productivity: Enhance vehicle structure to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost across departments. Monitor and improve safety, quality, cost, and productivity metrics in production areas.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with various departments including quality, pilot hall, R&D, production control, maintenance, and engineering to ensure top-tier product quality.

  • Training Implementation: Implement training programs to improve organizational capabilities within production departments.

  • Engineering Activities: Lead engineering tasks in processing model changes and investigations.

  • Communication: Prepare and deliver communications and reports on behalf of senior management, both within the plant and to external stakeholders, including presentations and documents for internal and external audiences.

General Information:

  • Holiday Structure: Follow the standard holiday calendar, with flexibility to work holidays as required by project schedules. Holidays worked will be compensated with comp days or make-up holidays.

  • Work Week: Contracts are based on a 40-hour work week, with overtime as needed and only when approved by the department manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in an automotive background.

  • A 4-year degree in Engineering or Project Management.

  • Proficiency in reviewing design and construction plans ( Blue Prints ).

  • Strong skills in positive employee relations and team building.

  • Experience in continuous improvement and project management.

  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree.

  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP/EDI systems.

  • Experience with the implementation of engineering changes, maintenance system development, jig and fixture development, PLC programming, assembly torque tools, and ergonomic assist development.

  • Skills in Microstation or Catia design.

  • Experience in automotive facility start-up and external logistics coordination.

  • Automotive manufacturing experience.

Pay: $30-37 per hour

Contract Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension

Work Schedule: Friday Monday, 7am-5pm (10-hour shifts). Flexibility required for potential additional days and during Plant Shutdown(s).

PTO: 12 days in addition to the company Holiday Calendar, with flexibility to work holidays as required by the project schedule, compensated with comp days or make-up holidays.

Pay Details: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour
