Job: RECORDING SECRETARY for REG SCHOOL DISTRICT No. 7 Board of Education
Job Summary: Attend monthly/bi-monthly Board meetings, record the discussion, and prepare written motions and minutes within statutory timeframes. Motions are the written decisions of the Commission or Board and must be completed within 2 business days of the meeting. Minutes are a written synopsis of what was discussed at a meeting and must be completed within 7 calendar days. BOE meetings are held in the evening and require the recording secretary to attend them in person.
Supervision Received: Reports to Regional School District No. 7 Superintendent of Schools
Essential Duties:
* Attend, record, and take notes at all RSD#7 Board meetings, budget workshops, and budget presentation meetings.
* Prepare written motions and minutes of the meeting within the statutory timeframe.
* Forward motions and minutes to the appropriate Administrative Assistant of the Superintendent for posting and for filing within the statutory timeframe.
* Occasional verbatim transcripts may be required.
Discretion and Confidentiality.
Flexible schedule due to special meetings or meeting changes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to understand basic BOE AGENDAS and related technical terms and accurately create a narrative summary of the discussion.
* Strong written communication skills.
* Ability to attend night meetings as required, at least 2 nights a month, budget season: more meetings required.
* Ability to meet deadlines in consideration of statutory timeframes.
Education, Training and Experience:
* Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
* Computer literacy with Windows run programs, e-mail, and the Internet.
* Prior experience preferred.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Stipend Position
Expected hours: 2 - 6 per week
Start Date: July 1, 2024 or as soon as available
Work Location: In-person meetings are held at Northwestern Regional School District No. 7. Budget Season meetings are held at all four feeder district towns.
