The Facility Attendant is responsible for assisting members utilizing the fitness areas to ensure proper use of equipment. Maintain a clean and orderly environment in the fitness areas, multi-purpose rooms, locker rooms and common areas. Complete room setups for programs and events. Provide superb customer service by making connections with members. Assist Recreation Supervisor in providing fitness orientations to new members. Ideal candidate may cross train for Children's Center Attendant.

Job Duties

  • Racks weights, sanitizes fitness equipment, checks supplies and fitness equipment for wear and tear and advises Recreation Supervisor if supplies or equipment need repair or replacement.
  • Assists in providing fitness orientations.
  • Monitors locker rooms and common areas for cleanliness, and performs light cleaning as needed.
  • Completes room set ups as directed for events and programs.
  • Attends relevant staff meetings and trainings.
  • Complies with Parks & Recreation Department dress code by coming to work in clean, presentable clothing and wearing an employee name tag.
  • Demonstrates a mature and professional attitude through dependability, punctuality and genuine awareness.
  • Is available for flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Monitors members in fitness room to ensure rules are followed and equipment is used in a proper manner.
  • Provide tours of facility as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all patrons. Maintain a professional, diplomatic, and friendly relationship with patrons.
  • Promptly greet patrons in a pleasant and friendly manner.
  • Follows all safety guidelines while using City of McHenry facilities.
  • Administer first aid when absolutely necessary.
  • Ensures patron's adherence to safety and injury prevention policies and procedures; prepares accident reports as required.
  • Keeps an open line of communication with Recreation Supervisor regarding daily operations, problems, and member feedback.
  • Perform the job safely and in compliance with City of McHenry policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee manual.
  • Performs related duties as required by management to meet the needs of the Parks & Recreation Department and the customer.

Qualifications

  • Facility Attendants must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Knowledge of fitness principles, exercise practices and current fitness trends is preferred.
  • Requires strong people and customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the staff and public.
  • The successful candidate must project a professional appearance.
  • Must have a CPR, AED and First Aid certification or be willing to complete certification training within the first 60 days of employment.
