DESCRIPTION:

St. Paul's School announces a search for a position of Theater Teacher to begin duties in August of 2024.This individual's primary teaching responsibilities will be teaching theater classes and assisting with the technical aspects for the arts performances.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The faculty member will be responsible for teaching theater courses in both our foundational-level courses as well as our more advanced courses. The faculty member's technical responsibilities will include providing technical support for community performances, assisting the Director of Theater with social media, assisting with the Student Directed One Acts, and assisting the Arts Technical Director. The faculty member is expected to work collaboratively with members of the entire Arts Department (Music, Dance, Fine Arts) and the greater school community.

In addition to teaching or administrative responsibilities, faculty at St. Paul's School are responsible for a variety of activities typical to the boarding school environment, including advising, dormitory association, coaching, committee work and other duties.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in theater studies, directing, technical theater, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE: Position requires minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience, preferably in a secondary school setting with demonstrated experience. Previous work with Qlab, projection mapping, sound design, and set and light design is a plus. The position also requires the use of online resources and other technology to enhance learning, as well as a knowledge and lively interest in pedagogy and the performing arts.

As part of a residential boarding school, the candidate must be interested in working and living with adolescents to support their academic, social, and emotional growth.
