The Position

In airport-speak, "Landside" refers to our parking operation which is definitely on the grow. As a Shift Leader, you will provide oversight, direction, and inspiration to your team in this important role. This is a busy place, and your days will fly by as you assist in delivering that all important first and last impression of our region to the traveling public. Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Oversees the daily operations and provide work oversight to staff by monitoring and reviewing activities to ensure that work is completed in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Supervises the check-in and check-out of cash drawers and balances funds, using computerized revenue control system in order to account for all moneys on shift, and provide security for its deposit.
  • Monitoring the computerized revenue control system for both parking and ground transportation.
  • Drive a shuttle van (14 passenger) between various parking lots and the terminal building, completing inspection forms before and after each trip.
  • Issuing parking media to and assisting Airport and tenant employees with parking needs.
  • Correcting revenue control system malfunctions and reporting malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Collection and accounting of funds from parking Pay on Foot stations.
  • Overseeing check-in and check-out of cash drawers; balancing and accounting for all monies on shift using computerized revenue system; preparing deposits for bank transport.
  • Ensuring that proper procedures are followed during each shift to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Monitoring the status of and operating all equipment associated with parking and ground transportation operations and resolving associated malfunctions.
  • Responding to public inquiries in a courteous manner; providing information and resolving sensitive and complex customer concerns.
  • Authorizing and documenting exceptions from normal operations by recognizing and handling unusual problems and circumstances.
  • Driving the perimeter of parking garage and observing all Parking and ground transportation areas as well as related Airport terminal areas.

This is an FLSA non-exempt position, which means it is eligible for overtime. In addition, this position qualifies for a $1000 recruitment bonus paid in three installments at 3 months ($250) six months ($250), and one year ($500).

The ideal candidate for this position will have
  • At least one year previous experience working with a computerized revenue collection system and handling cash and credit card transactions on a regular basis.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electronic and mechanical equipment associated with the parking and ground transportation operation.
  • Be detailed oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Previous work experience providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of their duties.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience working jobs which required shift work.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 40 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Ability to load and unload truck beds with cones, signage, and other landside materials.
  • Able to respond quickly to Landside emergencies in remote lots.
  • Able to perform basic assistance to the traveling public in order charge batteries, jump start cars, inflate tires, etc.
Entry Salary: $19.57 - $23.00 per hour, with opportunity for additional merit-based increases to a range maximum of $27.64 per hour. Initial salary placement will be based upon experience and qualifications. In addition, employees working non-day shifts receive an additional $2.40 per hour of shift differential pay. This is an hourly and overtime eligible position.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least one year of previous experience in a position with regular direct public contact handling cash and credit card transactions on a regular basis.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A valid Driver's License is required at time of application.
