This leading specialty chemicals business is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Research & Development (R&D) to lead the R&D team. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the R&D strategy aligned with the company s overall business objectives.
- Identify emerging trends, technologies, and market opportunities to drive innovation and product development.
Project Management:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of R&D projects.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the desired technical and commercial specifications.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing R&D team.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the department.
Innovation and Development:
- Drive the development of new products and the improvement of existing products.
- Ensure the application of best practices in research methodologies and technologies.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other departments, including Marketing, Sales, and Production, to ensure alignment on product development goals.
- Communicate R&D progress and outcomes to stakeholders, including the executive team and board of directors.
Regulatory and Compliance:
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and their impact on the company s products and processes.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the R&D budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to support strategic objectives.
- Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving measures where applicable.
Qualifications:
- PhD or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in R&D within the specialty chemical industry.
- Proven track record of successful product development and innovation.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
