Fairfax Medical Campus has a great full-time Therapeutic Recreation Spec 1- Days opportunity.
The Therapeutic Recreation Spec 1 selects evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group, and patients' physical and emotional status and formulates appropriate treatment plans in order to achieve desired rehabilitation outcomes. Demonstrates the essential skill competencies in order to implement the treatment plan performs ongoing reassessment and adjusts treatment plan accordingly to meet patient rehab goals. Adheres to department policy regarding the timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in order to meet program and regulatory requirements. Communicates effectively with patients, family, staff, treatment team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts. Completes all administrative and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit.
This role is a full-time Day shift Monday-Friday, Every Other Weekend

Job Responsibilities
- Documents the results of the Interest Assessment clearly and completely, including patients' identified leisure interest goals and all other essential elements according to department policy.
- Completes progress notes after each treatment session that reflect patient's response to treatment, and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan and discharge needs as evidenced by chart review.
- Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up, and patient and/or family education as evidenced by chart review and team feedback.
- Documents clearly, concisely and legibly within established timeframes (e.g. allows other therapists to continue treatment, allows for interpretation by all members of the team.
- Documents evidence of patient and family/caregiver education according to established timeframes.
- Provides educational material and community resource/referral information appropriate to the patients level of understanding and motivation as evidenced by chart review. Includes family/caregiver in education and training as appropriate as evidenced by observation and documentation.
- Demonstrates collaboration in communication with team members and is open to feedback and receptive to change as evidenced by team feedback.
- Gives appropriate instruction to assistive personnel in order to insure patient safety as evidenced by observation, feedback.
- Assumes leadership role in committees, department processes and special projects in accordance with clinical expertise and individual performance plan.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and knowledge in therapeutic recreation supply acquisition and utilization and program/event planning as evidenced by observation and ability to stay within the budget parameters set by supervisor/department director.
- Monitors and reports issues related to vehicle maintenance.
- Maintains all annual requirements necessary for operating hospital patient transportation vans and provides verifying documents (e.g.First Aid, EVOC, CDL)
- Demonstrates the essential skill competencies in order to implement the treatment plan and performs ongoing reassessment and adjusts treatment plan accordingly to meet patient rehab goals.
- Plans for and carries out appropriate individual and group treatment sessions based on functional measurable goals as well as community re-entry programs as appropriate as evidenced by chart review, observation and team feedback.
- Selects appropriate therapeutic activity relevant to treatment plan and patient goals as evidenced by chart review and team feedback.
- Addresses discharge planning needs for community resources and referrals from initial evaluation to discharge as evidenced by team feedback and documentation.
- Provides assessment, planning, treatment, intervention and evaluation to patients with addictions.
- Appropriately gathers and assesses information regarding the affect a client's addiction has on their mental and physical wellbeing.
- Analyzes and interprets relevant data to determine treatment recommendations and priorities.
- Selects evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group and patients' physical and emotional status and formulates appropriate treatment plans in order to achieve desired rehabilitation outcomes.
- Completes Interest Assessment within 24 hours of admission as evidenced by chart review.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience:
- New graduate recreation therapist
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Recreational Therapy
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association upon start.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR Licensure
