Carnivore s products are sold under its flagship Vital Essential brand. Vital Essentials is distributed in over 7,200 retailers today in the Independent Pet channel, and in 14 international markets. Vital Essentials is one of the fastest growing brands in the pet food industry.


PURPOSE:

The Creative Design Manager operates in a key role within the branding team, accountable for leading the creative process for marketing and sales communications. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional team members from all areas of the business, including base business, innovation, e-commerce and sales, to develop and execute effective brand creative design strategies and communications.


As the Creative Design Manager, you will play a critical role in creating and managing internal & external designers to ensure that design and content projects meet our organization s high standards of quality, value and timeliness. This role is a player/coach kind of role in the team where you will sometimes be leading the creative work yourself, and other times be staffing out extra support in the form of agencies, contractors, or full-time hires.


You will be responsible for overseeing the entire visual brand identity system and lead the project team from initial conceptualization and strategy to design development and finalization. You will make and build a team who makes assets that consumers will see online, in social media, emails, trade shows, in-store, online video, podcasts, and more. You will partner with the brand manager to figure out how to bring creative messaging strategies to life, and with the performance marketing team to create assets that are designed with the end channel in mind.


ROLE ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Lead and manage the creative process for all marketing and sales communication initiatives hands-on, from initial concept to design development and final delivery to support holistic marketing efforts
  • Ensure brand continuity, understanding business challenges and leverage creativity to solve them through a wide range of creative assets and touchpoints
  • Project leadership for all brand design & creative work, encompassing brand strategy, brand design, design finalization, strategic brand books, brand guidelines, etc.
  • Manage brand agency partners, ensuring that all projects align with our organization s standards, including agency-executed photography and art direction
  • Partner with performance marketing team to identify trends in creative messaging and types that scale in paid media
  • Recruit and manage additional support as creative needs evolve for a growing media budget on the team could include but not limited to agency partners, contract support, interns, and full time hires
  • Manage deployment and utilization of our Digital Asset Management (DAM) System
  • Planning and coordinating photo and video shoots, including managing the production planning process
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in creative design and asset types
  • Prioritize many competing design requests from across stakeholders in the org, ensuring strategic lens to the messaging and content created and implementing best practices based on the channel assets will be used within


REPORTING STRUCTURE:

Reports To: VP Brand

Peers: Brand Manager, Innovation Sr. Associate Brand Manager

Team: Graphic Designer (other internal and outside support tbd)


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years experience in creative design developing print, digital and social assets which could include: package design, in-store assets, paid social media assets (reels, GIFs, carousels), banners, amazon assets, OLV, and print assets
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy and the ability to translate it into impactful visual designs and stories
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines as well as motivate a team in a high output environment
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software and tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail and keen eye for aesthetics
  • Ability to teach and mentor designers as the team and brand grows
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners
