**Description**
Company drivers are responsible for the safe operation of the companys tractor/trailer fleet. They are to transport steel for the company in the most efficient way possible. Drivers will assist in the loading and unloading of steel and other supplies while providing customer service in a professional manner.

**JOB EXPECTATIONS**
**DOT REQUIREMENTS**
* Have an acceptable MVR
* Must pass road test
* Must secure and tarp the loads with chains, straps and other securement devices as needed to comply with company and DOT regulations.
* Must perform the required pre trip and post trip truck and trailer inspections. Record any defects found and fix defects before leaving on trip if a DOT violation.
* Operate Samsara onboard computer and/or maintain a legal driver log in accordance with all state and federal regulations.
* Must check for the proper vehicle gross and axle weights before leaving on a trip.
* Must obey all state and local laws.
**QUALITY & DELIVERY OF MATERIALS**
* Will check email for dispatch times.
* Will obtain the proper paperwork with the load they are assigned.
* Will compare load to paperwork to ensure that the load is not short or long product before departing facility.
* Will communicate with company management and dispatch team via Samsara.
* Must cooperate with customers and handle required delivery paperwork.
* Must follow the process procedures in loading and unloading steel and supplies from the trailer.
* Will need to collect payments as required by credit department. DELIVERY OF MATERIALS
* Will deliver product as dispatched.
* Will assist customer with unloading the product, as needed
* Will NOT operate customers equipment. EX: forklift, crane, tractor, etc.
* May be asked to do minor repairs to the tractor and trailer such as changing light bulbs, wiper blades etc.
* May be required to drive 11 hours. The amount of driving will be determined by route and destination.
* Will have to push or pull, on tarps, chains, binders, and bundles.
* Shall climb in and out of the truck cab several times during the day.
* Must safely climb up and down from the trailer with a deck height of 56 inches.
* In accordance with the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, 4th edition, 1991, and NIMs job analysis, the physical demand of a driver is heavy. The essential job function of the driver is lifting materials from 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly.
**OTHER DUTIES**
* Will perform Shag truck duties for the warehouse if the straight truck is not available for delivery.
* Will maintain the inside and outside cleanliness of the assigned straight truck.
* Drivers are required to always wear company uniforms and proper PPE when on duty.
* Must follow all company conduct and safety rules and DOT regulations.
