CUSTODIAN

Qualifications:
1. High school graduate or GED, preferred
2. Ability to read & comprehend the English language
3. Acceptable pre-established work habits
4. Ability to relate to others in an acceptable manner
5. Ability to accept and pass on to others written and verbal instructions
6. Good general health and personal hygiene
7. Medium Work: Occasional lifting of 50 lbs; frequent lifting of 25 lbs.

Reports To: Director of Custodial Services ordesignee (School Administration provide support supervision)

Supervises: N/A

Terms of Employment:
To be determined by The Board of Education

Job Goal: To carry out appropriate custodial duties needed in local school, to enhance building and grounds appearance in order to provide a safe, secure, and wholesome learning environment in support of the district's mission.
Performance Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Work under the direct supervision of the Lead Custodian
2. Cleans: Classrooms, bathrooms, laboratories, offices, corridors, gyms, locker/shower rooms, cafeterias, stairways, walls, windows, outside grounds and other areas within the system in accordance with assigned schedules and/or as directed by Principal or designee.
3. Give attention to cross ventilation, indoor air quality & general appearance of each individual classroom.
4. Be knowledgeable of emergency exits and evacuation plans and assist in fire drills.
5. Flush all floor drains throughout the building periodically.
6. Keep dumpsters and immediate outside of campus and grounds policed of unsightly paper, trash, and other debris.
7. Maintain properly all equipment and material used to perform tasks. Keep equipment clean and in good working order.
8. At the close of the day, be sure all thermostats are set at proper settings.
9. Check to be sure there is no water left running.
10. Perform any other duties assigned.
Specific Duties:
1. Moves equipment & furniture for the rearrange of offices & classrooms and for cleaning.
2. Changes fluorescent light bulbs and light bulbs as needed to include exit lights and signs.
3. Notify Lead Custodian of equipment needing repairs, any physical problems found within facility, vandalism, and pilferage.

Evaluation: System evaluation form completed annually by the Lead Custodian with input from Director of Custodial Services, the Principal or designee.
