Job Details

Summary

To greet patients, verify demographic and insurance information, collect copays and print fee tickets and SOF forms.

Job Requirements

  1. Must be a high school graduate.
  2. Must have general computer knowledge.
  3. Must have basic typing skills.

Responsibilities
  1. Greets consumers in a pleasant professional manner.
  2. Verifies demographic, referring physician and insurance information over the telephone or in person.
  3. Correctly identifies insurances that need precertification or authorization and ensure that it is obtained.
  4. Must collect copays from patients. (See policy on money handling.)
  5. Must verify correct amount of cash in drawer upon opening and close out cash drawer in evening.
  6. Must correctly schedule tests at appropriate site.
  7. Must notify appropriate staff when supplies are low for recording purposes. (Put on physician schedule if appropriate).
  8. Must run fee tickets, day sheets, and SOF forms.
  9. Make sure appropriate forms are completed.
  10. Keep an eye on waiting room for supplies and neatness.
  11. Make follow up appointments/ schedule necessary tests
  12. May need to post charges and co-pays
  13. May be asked to make patient appointment reminders
  14. Other duties as assigned by Practice Coordinator or Manager

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • 8:00am - 8:00pm M-F or hours may vary from day to day as required by the job.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
  • Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours

  1. Normally works 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday with a scheduled lunch every day.
  2. May require paid overtime before and/or after normal working hours.
  3. Works in well-lighted and well-ventilated office.
  4. Expected to adhere to general office policy.
  5. Will not be exposed to blood and body fluids.
  6. Will spend majority of day in front of computer terminal entering data, using telephone, faxes, copiers, and printers.
  7. Subject to frequent interruption.
