Title: Custodian Location: Making Waves Academy Richmond The Custodian , under the supervision of the site- based Facilities Manager , is to provide students and staff a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place to work, learn, and develop. This position co ordinates with and informs the work of the contracted custodial team. This is an exciting opportunity for an operations team member who understands that high-quality education cannot be delivered without a clean and safe campus . The ideal candidate is excited to leverage her/his operational expertise to help MWA fulfill its mission. Primary Responsibilities * Clean campus throughout the day , including but not limited to:

+ Take out trash in meal service areas

+ Sweep, scrub, mop floors, hallways and student activity areas

+ Dust and wash necessary furniture

+ Pickup outdoor litter, sweep sidewalks

+ Wear appropriate protective gear

* Maintain inventory and necessary equipment

* Respond to requests for custodial support throughout the day

* Complete light to moderate maintenance t asks on an as- needed basis

* Create, document and address tickets in SolarWinds management online software program

* Other duties as assigned

Division: School-wide

Reports To: Facilities Manager

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt (Year-Round)

Position Summary

Maintain a clean and safe campus

Coordinate with and inform the work of the custodial contractors

* Remain in close communicatio n with custodial contractors regarding daily cleaning needs

* Attend custodial team meetings w/ supervisor and custodial contractors

Identify issues and make recommendations for improvement

* Regularly inspect campus to identify areas needing cleaning and / or maintenance

* Develop and maintain a daily inspection and cleaning schedule in conjunction with supervisor that prioritizes heavily used areas ; make recommendations for adjustments to schedule based on facility needs

* Attend maintenance and safety meetings

* Identify trends and areas of concern and communicate issues and recommended solutions to supervisor

Qualifications

Experience

* 3 - 5 years of custodial experience, preferably in a school setting

* 1 year of custodial supervision experience , preferred

Skills

* Knowledge of cleaning materials and techniques

* Ability to operate power cleaning equipment

* Proficiency in written and verbal communication

* Ability to operate in self-directed fashion with minimal supervision

* Ability to properly climb and work on a ladder

* Ability to push/pull or carry objects that exceed 50 pounds

* Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

* Comfort with technology, including computer and internet use

* Fluency in Spanish strongly desired

Education

* High school graduate or GED

Preferred

* Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required
