Position Summary:

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for managing the purchasing activities for Industrial and Specialty Goods(Non-Automotive).Working closely with the key business stakeholders the Purchasing Manager will develop and implement effective cost reduction strategies and leverage extensive market knowledge to drive competitive pricing.The Purchasing Manager will also proactively identify areas of opportunity for process improvement, cost efficiencies and be responsible for creating and implementing roadmaps to achieve LEAN savings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive application of key market dynamics and commodity trends including raw materials to validate cost competitiveness and global impacts.
  • Manage supply base with respect to their ability to provide products and services in accordance with the organizations business requirements, cost parameters, terms and agreements.
  • Manage the resolution of critical supply chain issues and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Process improvement initiatives for cost reduction management, quoting alignment with program teams and ways of working "smart not hard"
  • Generate and execute a purchasing strategy which aligns to key business initiatives
    • Supply base consolidation & strategic development
    • Supporting low volume / high mix components
    • Supplier lead time less than 3 weeks
    • Secure/develop partner suppliers to assist with growth (low volume in beginning but able to scale up with the growth)
    • Work with teams on developing future cost to quote (new business strategy)
  • Integrate ISG business activities with automotive counterparts
Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or Related Field, MBA preferred
  • Automotive experience desired
  • 7+ years' experience in an operations, quality, purchasing or global supplier development role
  • 2+ years' supervisory experience preferred
  • Prior experience leading teams involved in negotiations
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence others.
Work Environment/Work Conditions:
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Must be self-motivated

  • Must be able to interact with operations, finance, legal and executive level employees
  • Located in business unit department in Northville
  • Travel include plant and supplier visits; willingness to travel up to 10%
