The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc) supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (/DD) to live, work, and connect with their community.


As the Graphic Design Assistant, you will manage and produce a variety of graphic design and multimedia projects that promote The Arc s programs, services, and initiatives. The Graphic Design Assistant will create dynamic communication and marketing pieces that communicate the desired message with high visual impact, often in collaboration with the Visual Communications Manager and stakeholders across The Arc s enterprise.


The responsibilities of the Graphic Design Assistant include creating a broad range of visually appealing designs aligned to The Arc s brand used for marketing, advertising, and other promotion, as well as providing recommendations for the most effective visual tactics and designs. All designs must maintain brand consistency and the Graphic Design Assistant should have experience guiding designs throughout the entire process of developing rough drafts and sketches of concept, all the way through collaborative review and revision processes to final approval and production. Experience creating motion graphics, animating brand elements, and creating logos is expected along with strong knowledge of current graphic design processes, principles, and the latest industry trends.


This position requires a high school diploma or GED, though a bachelor s degree in graphic design or a related field is preferred, along with three years of experience in graphic design. The role requires a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with design principles, layout, typography, and a good eye for visual design. The ideal candidate will thrive while managing multiple creative projects with competing deadlines and work extremely well under pressure.
