Job Summary The Operating Room Nurse I is a highly motivated professional nurse and skilled clinician who with minimal supervision assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of surgical patients. Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective and quality patient-and family centered care in the perioperative setting. Requires flexible, self directed RN with the ability to work in any phase of the perioperative setting and a willingness to float between the areas in the perioperative setting as needed. Demonstrates strong assessment skills and competence in decision making in the delivery of care to patients and families. Implements and maintains the appropriate standard of care based on age specific categories recommended by the Medical Executive Committee. Contributes to the Children#s Hospital Mission - TO PROVIDE THE FINEST PEDIATRIC HEALTH SERVICES TO ALL CHILDREN IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT FOSTERS EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH AND MEDICAL EDUCATION. THE HOSPITAL WILL SERVE AS AN ADVOCATE TO ALL CHILDREN AND WORK TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT ISSUES AFFECTING CHILDREN#S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. Education Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Experience Minimum of one year in the perioperative setting (OR, PACU or Pre-Op) Professional nurse who is expert in the delivery of patient care in the subspecialty areas. A minimum of one year of experience in the perioperative setting OR two years in a critical care setting is required. Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Alabama. Current BLS certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required before assigned independently in PACU. Completes and passes the Perioperative 101 Course if no previous experience as an ORT or OR nurse.

* Education
