Environmental Planner


Job Details

In this position, you will:


  • Act as a project manager and leader for environmental planning and permitting initiatives.
  • Draft and compile various CEQA and NEPA documentation.
  • Oversee the creation of Categorical Exemptions, Initial Studies/Mitigated Negative Declarations, and Environmental Assessments.
  • Collaborate with other team leaders and project delivery teams to secure and execute projects.
  • Mentor and guide junior technical staff, ensuring quality control of technical work products, including CEQA and NEPA documentation.
  • Provide advice to project managers on technical issues, involving coordination with subject matter experts, that may necessitate scope changes and additional fees.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with technical subconsultants during proposal and project phases.
  • Foster a collaborative environment to support client needs and company objectives.
  • Engage in strategic efforts to expand and diversify the environmental planning practice.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.


To excel in this role, you will need:


  • A Bachelors degree in environmental studies, science, planning, or a related discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in preparing CEQA and NEPA documents, with a demonstrated ability to manage increasingly complex projects.
  • Knowledge of current planning laws and practices.
  • A proven ability to develop new client relationships and manage existing ones effectively.
  • Self-awareness, self-regulation skills, and a growth-oriented mindset.
  • A willingness and capability to work within a team setting.
  • Experience in preparing CEQA and NEPA documents.
  • Familiarity with Caltrans Local Assistance Program guidelines.
