Job Details
The Groundskeeper, Cemetery oversees the upkeep of our cemetery. This position prepares graves for burial services, cares for our facility/equipment, and works with outside vendors as part of a team to achieve our customer service and maintenance goals. This position is year-round and full-time with better-than-average benefits.
Essential Functions:
- Operates a backhoe in a safe manner to facilitate burial services.
- Operates lawn and grounds equipment including push and power mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and other related power equipment as needed.
- Removes debris and trash from grounds.
- Participates as a team member to set up tent, chairs and burial service equipment as needed.
- Will read cemetery maps to determine the location of burial sites in the cemetery.
- Handles day-to-day maintenance repairs to the cemetery and or building systems.
- Must follow safety rules and ensure compliance with the operating procedures of corporate, federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA regulations and Safety and Environmental guidelines.
- Will assist in moving and installing burial vaults, cemetery monuments, and concrete monument foundations.
- Backhoe Operation: 1 year preferred; Groundskeeping: 1 year preferred.
- Driver's License Required
- This is a full-time position, M-F, with some scheduled Saturday work.
Position Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of cemetery grounds work experience.
- Ability to operate a backhoe for excavation of graves.
- Ability to use hand-held tools and equipment, including, but not limited to, a shovel, pick, rake, sledgehammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer and leaf blower.
- Ability to mechanically maintain a backhoe, lawnmower, and vehicles a plus.
- Ability to accurately use measuring devices (i.e., tape measure, yardstick, etc.)
