Job Description

Test Engineer reports to the Engineering Team Leader

This individual will be responsible for developing, procuring, and supporting production test systems and developing test processes that will be used in the manufacturing of electronic assemblies. The development of these test systems may also include designing electronic circuits required to interface with the devices under test during the testing process. Developing software to automate the testing and data acquisition requirements is also a function of the position.

The person in this role works with the operations, engineering, quality, and materials organizations. This individual may work with the customers to procure or develop production test systems that will be used in the manufacturing of electronic assemblies. This individual will also be responsible for implementing and assisting with the support of the systems in the production environment. The development and implementation of these test systems may include developing software to automate the testing and data acquisition requirements of the test system. The development of these test systems may also include designing electronic circuits required to interface with the devices under test during the testing process.

Basic Background Requirements

Ability to analyze and troubleshoot electronic circuits.
Ability to interpret circuit schematics.
Ability to interpret assembly test specifications.
Ability to write test procedures.
Knowledge of software development environments - MS Visual Studio, NI LabView, or NI Labwindows/CVI
Familiar with electronic assembly manufacturing processes
The ability to work with all levels of the organization (Operators, indirect staff, leadership)
A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is preferred.

Key Performance Objectives

Short Term: (0 to 3 months)

Become familiar with the existing Kimball Electronics production test systems and processes.
Assist test equipment technicians with the production support of test system.
Develop test procedures that may be used by the production operators to test manufactured assemblies.

Midterm: (3 to 12 months)

Interface with test equipment suppliers to procure and implement production test systems.
Design and develop production test systems.
Write and modify test programs.
Work with other members of the KEJ organization on continuous improvement projects.

Design electronic control/measurement circuits and develop embedded software for these

functional test systems

Provide guidance to technicians during the fabrication phase of the test systems
Lead efforts to resolve production test issues that may occur on the manufacturing floor
Be a member of a production project team who will be responsible for the test issues which

may occur on the project.

Develop automated functional test systems for electronic

assemblies
Design electronic control/measurement circuits and develop embedded software for these

functional test systems
Provide guidance to technicians during the fabrication phase of the test systems
Lead efforts to resolve production test issues that may occur on the manufacturing floor
A member of a production project team who will be responsible for the test issues which

may occur on the project
