Our organization seeks qualified legal counsel to help us comply with all regulations and requirements. Legal counsel will draft and manage legal documents, oversee all legal aspects of our business, and offer guidance and advice to management. Applicants must know how to manage legal documents, review litigation strategy, and handle statutory filing. The job requires extensive knowledge of legal language and practices and excellent communication skills. Our ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced with crisis management, and capable of handling litigation, patents, and infringement.



Duties and Responsibilities:

The candidate will join the corporate/commercial team and will interact with and support various groups across the company, with a primary focus on corporate governance, M&A Will report to the CEO of the company. Provide legal training to members of management and business partners. Provide support for M&A transactions, including working with Corporate Development on deal structure and LOI terms, planning and assisting in due diligence, drafting and negotiating deal agreements, and actively managing deal process and execution. Support real estate, corporate, commercial, and other transactions and special projects. Familiarity with accounting statements and understanding of Regulations. Experience with executive compensation and benefits is a plus. Team attitude that no job is too big or too small. Thrives in an environment where you need to roll up your sleeves and own outcomes.   • Offer legal guidance and advice to business professionals.

  • Advise and support business clients to ensure that the regional team has identified and complied with relevant regulations.
  • Monitor, advise, and counsel on regulations, regulatory developments, and safety-related topics.
  • Effectively communicate risks and provide excellent solutions-oriented legal advice to all levels of the Company.
  • Participate and potentially lead meetings on safety and reporting topics.
  • Work on government interactions for regulatory topics
  • Lead litigation activities for the company
  • Manage outside counsels and budget.
  • Advise on quality issues and related claims


Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • An active membership in good standing in the State Bar of Michigan or Michigan (or eligible to practice as Registered In House Counsel)
  • 7+ years of litigation experience, with a strong preference for both law firm and in-house experience and experience working on a variety of commercial litigation matters.
  • 3+ years experience working on IP litigation matters, including substantial patent litigation experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, no sharp elbows.
  • Demonstrated experience as a solutions-oriented self-starter who provides practical advice in a manner that is understandable by non-lawyers.
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and work on any matter, no matter how big or small.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional clients.

  • nice to have in-house legal experience at an automotive OEM/ Supply chain
  • Bonus, nice to have an undergraduate or advanced degree in an engineering discipline.
