The Charles Town Police Department is accepting applications for a non-civil service position of Administrative Assistant I. Applicants must have at least a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must possess a valid drivers license, good communications skills and two years of experience as an office support employee.
Duties include:
Ability to type 40 words per minute.
Knowledge of computer operations, Microsoft Office processing system, and standard office equipment.
Frequent public contact requiring tact, firmness, and decisiveness.
Computer Aided Dispatch system experience preferred but not required.
Managing the lobby reception, handling public and internal requests for services.
Numerous data entry responsibilities.
Draft letters, memoranda, reports, and other material, as well as editing correspondence.
Handles the delivery and organization of departmental mail.
Assists officers in retrieving criminal reports.
Receives and directs telephone calls to appropriate officers or external agencies.
Provides clerical support in processing correspondence, reports, arrests, and records.
Assists with parade/special event functions.
Starting salary begins at $38,362.00 to $40,304.00 based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance as well as WV State Retirement plan, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
