The Temporary Controller at our East Lansing client will be tasked to provide expertise and proficiency in property management accounting, specifically utilizing the Yardi accounting software. This integrated financial role reports directly to the Senior Management and requires seamless coordination with other finance team members. The candidate is responsible for assisting in financial decision-making whilst safeguarding the company's integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure.
- Handle and ensure successful completion of all audit processes.
- Supervise, lead, and collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Analyze and interpret financial data for property investment opportunities, cost efficiency and revenue enhancement.
- Provide expertise on the Yardi accounting system, including implementations, troubleshooting, and modifications as needed.
- Supervise the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales and use, payroll and other local taxes).
- Review reports to analyse projections of sales and income against actual figures and budgeted expenses against final totals.
- Generate financial reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses, etc.
- Provide strategic financial insights, solutions, and operational metrics to management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. A Masters or CPA qualification is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in property management accounting.
- Proficient knowledge of Yardi accounting software is a must.
- Excellent skills in management and business operations.
- Strong knowledge of tax codes, GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with exceptional analytical skills in Excel.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on preciseness and timelines.
