Visual Field Technician

Job Summary:

The Visual Field Technician is responsible for performing automated perimetry on patients as ordered by the provider using an automated visual field machine. The Visual Field Technician helps facilitate efficient patient flow and works with the clinical team to prepare patients for their visit with the doctor. Ensures the testing room is clean and equipment sanitized between patients.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand the patient exam note including orders for visual field testing
  • Perform visual field testing according to doctor's orders
  • Use of appropriate trial lenses as needed for testing
  • Ensure correct and accurate testing results by proper set up, instructing and monitoring patients during testing.
  • Transfer results to patient's medical record via EHR
  • Maintain, calibrate, and clean visual field machine
  • Perform other tasks as required
  • Must have a clear understanding of company policies including the company manual
  • Follow all safety procedures as per guidelines.


Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of eye anatomy and medical terminology
  • Ability to speak clearly and in a professional manner
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional Customer service experience
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships within a team and with other departments
  • Must possess the physical, mental, and cognitive skills needed to complete essential tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for comprehension, problem-solving, and timely decision-making.


Education and Experience:
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of healthcare experience required.


Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting, Standing, Bending, Reaching, Stooping, Walking and Lifting
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks
  • Driving independently to other facilities

Working Conditions:
  • Travel to other locations is necessary.
  • Work may involve a high level of stress.
  • Occupational Exposure - Category Ill exposure to blood-borne pathogens and may encounter chemical hazards.
