Position: Laboratory Manager

The Laboratory Manager will oversee all aspects of the Laboratory Department and testing within a Critical Access Hospital here in Washington State. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic testing, supervising personnel, managing budgets, ensuring quality assurance, procuring supplies, negotiating contracts, selecting and maintaining equipment, complying with regulatory agencies, maintaining policies and procedures, and managing laboratory coding and billing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic testing procedures for disease diagnosis and treatment
  • Supervise laboratory personnel
  • Administer budgets and manage quality assurance
  • Procure supplies and negotiate contracts
  • Select, purchase, and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies
  • Maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and coding/billing processes

Requirements:

  • Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean
  • Completes annual organizational and job-specific educational requirements
  • Maintains regulatory requirements
  • Wears identification while on duty
  • Attends staff meetings and/or reads all meeting minutes
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time
  • Maintains employee/patient confidentiality
  • Represents the organization positively and professionally
  • Participates in department performance improvement activities
  • Demonstrates the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization and departmental Scope of Service

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology
  • Licensure/Certifications:
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification
  • Current Health Care Licensure in the State of Washington
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a clinical laboratory of an acute care hospital (in non-waived testing)
  • One year of supervisory experience
  • Meets CLIA classifications: Technical supervisor (high complexity testing) for all areas excluding immunohematology; General supervisor (high complexity testing) for immunohematology
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years' experience in laboratory management
  • Experience with regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operations
  • Experience with the Cerner electronic health record system
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
