The Buyer will perform a variety of purchasing functions including the purchase of raw materials, processed and unprocessed goods for processing. Purchase of machinery, equipment, tools, parts, and other supplies and services required by the company. Identifies cost reduction opportunities with existing and new vendors.

  • Match Receiving with Purchase Orders
  • Order supplies for IT, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Assembly, office supplies, and other various supplies
  • Receive requisitions for goods or services to be purchased
  • Interview vendors for information concerning product, price, reliability/ quality, and delivery date; negotiate prices and terms with vendors to obtain satisfactory bids
  • Obtain and review bids and proposals from vendors; selects a vendor according to company-established criteria and product-specific criteria
  • Authorize purchases
  • Maintain all records pertaining to the history of each requisition on costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories
  • Discuss any defects of purchased goods with Quality Control and takes corrective action
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
  • The pay range for this position: $50k - $60k DOE, FLSA-exempt

Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Negotiating techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • 2-years' experience in purchasing preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven computer skills.


Required Skills

  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Good math skills and conceptual perception of manufacturing techniques required.
  • Previous experience using customized computer programs.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Ability to problem-solve and investigate problems as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal people skills.
