In Moolec Science we are currently seeking a part-time Research Scientist for our Molecular Biology Team for the period of August 1 to December 15, 2024.
Main responsibilities include:
The main responsibility for this position will be to assist the Molecular Plant Scientist in all day-to-day research operations in the field of molecular biology and plant biotechnology. This position has the great potential to become a full-time position.
What you'll do:
- Main task: Fully manage and handle all day-to-day pea propagation operations at our propagation room.
- Help setting up the propagation room for pea propagation purposes.
- Assist in all day-to-day research operations at our laboratory facilities in Texas A&M Bioscience Business Accelerator facility in College Station, TX.
- Collaborate in complex experiments to generate scientific and technical data for the company.
- Conduct molecular biology techniques such as DNA, RNA, and protein extraction, PCRs, gel electrophoresis, etc.
- Grow and maintain other common lab research plants, including Arabidopsis and tobacco.
- Contribute to process improvement and implementation of new tools and protocols.
- Deliver results in fast changing business environments and maintain accurate experimental records.
- Help with the general lab and propagation room maintenance and clean-up.

Location: College Station, TX
Qualifications:
Must have:
- 2-3+ years of experience in plant propagation.
- Must live within 25 miles from College Station, Tx
- BS or a Master s in a STEM field.
- Availability for plant feeding throughout the week (including weekends).
- Independent implementation of experimental studies.
- Project Management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
- Relevant experience in molecular biology and plant tissue culture.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Teaching talents (and patience) to mentor, guide, and train technicians and students in the near future.
