COMPENSATION: $15.45 - $17.00

HOURS: Part-time, Mon-Thurs, 29 Hours per week

REPORTS TO: Building Principal-Lin Gifford

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly

SUPERVISOR Building Principal or Assistant Principal

FUNCTION

The Clerical Aide assists the Principal Secretary with clerical and secretarial duties as necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the school office.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Previous experience as a secretary or in general office work.

* Ability to operate business machines normally found in a school office.

* Ability to relate cordially with people.

* Ability to function in a busy office atmosphere, managing varied tasks and multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner.

* Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the absence of a supervisor.

* Basic knowledge of first aid guidelines and procedures.

* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

* Receive and direct visitors and phone calls.

* Direct substitute teachers.

* Issue student admits, supplies, tickets etc.

* Distribute school mail.

* Maintain student records (attendance reports, transcripts, etc.).

* Prepare routine correspondence and special reports, newsletters, handbooks, etc.

* Supervise student workers.

* Respond to basic first aid needs.

* Assist with organization and management of special functions and seasonal events, i.e., awards and recognition programs; health screening programs; registration, promotion, and check-out activities.

* Maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment.

* Perform other duties as directed.

RELATED PHYSICAL DEMANDS

* Stooping, bending, climbing, turning, reaching, as necessary to access storage areas, file cabinets, etc.

* Standing for extended periods of time as in filing, collating, servicing students, etc.

* Lifting and placing loads of 25-30 lbs. i.e., books, paper, supply items, A-V equipment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

9.5-month contract, 29 hours per week. Salary as determined by the Board of Education. Annual performance evaluation in accordance with Board policy.

EVALUATION

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
