Senior Civil Design Engineer

This esteemed engineering consulting firm has evolved from its roots into a nationally recognized leader in infrastructure and environmental consulting. They are currently seeking a Civil Design Project Engineer who will be responsible for preparing and reviewing contract documents, designs, and specifications, as well as creating technical proposals, cost estimates, and plans. This role will also be actively involved in construction sites, conducting review activities and assessing the feasibility of proposed features. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):

  • Reviewing contract documents, designs, and specifications for civil projects.
  • Creating technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, and reports, and handling daily correspondence.
  • Visiting construction sites to oversee activities and ensure quality.
  • Evaluating the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed civil features for sites.
  • Performing calculations for site designs and leading project teams.
  • Conducting engineering analyses both manually and using software.
  • Designing specific construction details and selecting suitable materials.
  • Coordinating quality control during construction and reviewing daily reports.
  • Giving presentations about projects to clients, technical groups, and colleagues.



Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering focusing on Site/Civil Design required.
  • Pass Fundamentals of Engineering exam or EIT certification; preferably attain Professional Registration in Michigan within 12 months.
  • 7+ years of site development experience, including layout, grading, sewer design, etc.
  • Expertise in Civil 3D and AutoCAD, with Infrastructure Suite experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling software.
  • Previous experience in engineering consulting preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces with training.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Ability to organize technical material into comprehensive reports and perform QA/QC reviews.
  • Proficiency in project planning, budgeting, task delegation, and management.
  • Experience in project administration, including invoicing and collections.
  • Willingness to work in the field and office, including non-standard hours if needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel within Michigan for field work.
  • PMP Certificate ( preferred)
  • Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
