Location: Akron, OH preferred, the ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need for the correct candidate.
DMS SCADA Display/Modeling team is responsible to implement standards, manage software, perform version management, and advise on the use and engineering principles to support FirstEnergy's Distribution SCADA (a component of the DMS) environment. The team focuses on ensuring a world class SCADA system for use by Distribution Operations. This position is focused on the field device SCADA configurations, SCADA system modeling and visualization, SCADA point-to-point verification, and interface maintenance to the Oracle components of the DMS system.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing support for FE's integrated Distribution Management System comprised of GE Distribution SCADA and interfaces to the Oracle NMS
- Creating and maintaining SCADA electrical models to represent the FirstEnergy Distribution system
- Providing configuration of SCADA (System Control and Data Acquisition) to facilitate command and control of field devices and substations
- Develop and execute SCADA system standardizations that reduce time to delivery, improve efficiency and agility to deploy Distribution SCADA enabled technologies
- Working with field personnel to conduct remote system and equipment tests
- Working with designated regional dispatching employees on system requests
- Support the testing and deployment of patches and software upgrades
- Creating and execute comprehensive unit test plans, developing test cases, assisting with integration, and performing system test plans.
- Working directly with experienced staff members to identify, evaluate, prioritize, and implement improvements consistent with business requirements.
- Assisting in the creation of system documentation, version release notes, and training material. Conducting presentations and training.
- Support real-time SCADA software and database configurations
An employee hired at the Level III or IV will be expected to perform all of the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Level III or IV employee will be assigned additional related responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technologies a similar related technical discipline, or commensurate experience. - Commensurate experience includes, but is not limited to: - Experience managing high availability of complex data sets, RTU configurations, SCADA communications and/or protocols
- Experience with real-time systems, real-time architectures and databases including modeling and revising data through software applications


- Working knowledge of databases and real-time system applications for critical systems
- Experience with building user interfaces that are used for real-time systems
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and resolve complex problems
- Ability to effectively use standard PC software, including MS Windows and Office products, web-based systems, e-mail, relational database query tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels and with varying backgrounds.
- Experience in providing responsive and effective customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and plan work, work on multiple concurrent tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience with GE (legacy Alstom) eterra systems - including but not limited to one or more of the following: eterraHabitat, eterraPlatform, eterraControl, eterraSource and associated tools.
Experience in the following specific areas is preferred: - Experience with GE (legacy Alstom) eterra EMS/DMS system components, software, and management principles.
- Ability to manage PROCMAN, CFGCTRL, NETIO, ISD and associated system configurations, and architectures.
- Experience with hdbrio, hdbimport/export, HabConnect tools
- FGBuilder and eterra display editing and compilation tools

- Familiarity with eterra database schemas including SCADAMOM and/or ALARM
- Concentration in Power Systems Engineering or Communications Engineering (if Engineering related degree)
- Demonstrated analytical skills to effectively resolve technical problems.
- Familiarity with GE EMS modeling and display building tools
- Experience with Perl, Python, Powershell programming languages
- Experience with DNP3.0 SCADA protocol
- Experience with RS232, RS485, and Ethernet (IP)
