SHIFT:

• Part-time 20 hours per week
• Friday and Saturday 12:00pm-10:00pm (10 hour shift)
• You can also accept per diem hours as they become available

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Youth Counselor is dedicated to the direct supervision of adolescent boys in a short-term transitional living program. Youth Counselors cultivate a safe, healthy, therapeutic, nurturing and caring home environment that is supportive of each participant's individualized needs, social, emotional, and academic development. Youth Counselors are positive role models offering support, strength-based encouragement and protection of youth in their care, advocating for youth and sharing information and updates with parents/guardians.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Demonstrated ability to work with youth
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of strengths-based and trauma sensitive programming (preferred)
• Ability to obtain and maintain the following certifications:
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
• First Aid/CPR
• Must have valid driver's license
• Maintain good communication with staff
• Provide crisis intervention as needed
• Respond to any illnesses or physical problem boys may develop
• Maintain awareness of all boys and monitor closely boys with specific problems, potential runaways, severe depression, bedwetters, etc.
