POSITION TITLE: ASSOCIATE I REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL
OVER-TIME STATUS: NON-EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 406

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs responsible clerical work requiring a qualified typist; prepares and maintains fiscal and related records; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the assistant principal and/or principal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Attendance Clerk duties; Works with school secretary and assists Assistant Principal and Principal in preparing and maintaining student files and records; serving as telephone operator and receptionist; assisting students and parents.

  • Meets and screens visitors, answers telephone and processes mail;
  • Maintains manual and computer registers, attendance and grade records and reports;
  • Registers students, verifies data, answers questions, types schedules and prepares records;
  • Signs students in and out, writes student passes;
  • Processes withdrawing students, processes and forwards records;
  • Prepares attendance records and student information for data entry;
  • Types letters, memos, reports, bulletins, schedules, student files and records;
  • Processes and distributes mail;
  • Sets up and maintains office filing systems;
  • Assists with collection of student fees;
  • Posts attendance and student records to computer;
  • Performs related tasks as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment; some knowledge of school system routine and procedures; some knowledge of bookkeeping terminology, methods and procedures; general knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; thorough knowledge of personnel and payroll procedures, financial record keeping and banking procedures; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to work under pressure; ability to organize and perform work independently; ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to meet the public effectively.

This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and fingering; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word;
hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
