Purchasing Buyer - Entry Level


Job Details

The Purchasing Buyer is responsible for procurement of goods and services in addition to ongoing category management and supplier performance management that requires a moderate degree of experience, knowledge, and professionalism. Responsible for a spend portfolio of goods and services required for successful operations. Activities include creating spend analysis, RFI/RFP/RFQ cycles, supplier negotiations, trade and professional/personal services contracting and driving supplier performance.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for achieving financial objectives established by the Purchasing Manager.
  • Responsible for contacting suppliers and to expedite delivery of materials.
  • Responsible for clarifying needs with internal departments.
  • Responsible for expediting deliveries of goods and where necessary, get the department approval for alternate methods or materials.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the inventory/ purchasing system.
  • Responsible for keeping departments advised with respect to lead-time on critical material or affected products.
  • Responsible for setting up suppliers and items in the purchasing system to expedite order placement.
  • Maintains good company image and supplier relations through daily supplier contact.
  • Performs quality assurance inspections when appropriate.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Always follow the Company Service Standards model.
  • Must be able to work a variety of hours, holidays, and weekends as necessary.
  • Must be available for regularly scheduled work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the other duties described herein, each Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
  • Obtain and retain required license(s).
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member's department.
  • Have knowledge of the Property's programs to address problem gaming.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.


EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma
  • Must have at least one year of purchasing experience
  • Must be proficient in the entire Microsoft Office Suite


Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Virginia Racing Commission License

Valid Driver's License with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.
