Job Summary

The position encompasses a range of responsibilities essential to laboratory testing, research and development, and manufacturing quality. These include conducting laboratory tests on molded fiber and pressware products from around the globe, as well as products sourced from competitors, alongside carrying out analytical testing.

The position requires an understanding of quality requirements for Huhtamaki's major product lines and new products developed in molded fiber and pressware in the U.S. The position should be able to learn and foresee customer needs, and to be able to suggest, develop, and implement new test methods to promote compliance with those requirements.

The position should understand the operation of manufacturing systems, including proprietary Huhtamaki molded fiber machines. The position should be able to evaluate product from those machines and adjust and troubleshoot conditions on the machines to proactively correct problems and to optimize quality without supervision.

The position should work well with Process Engineers, Tooling Designers, and Manufacturing Engineers to help plan and conduct testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of production trials of new materials, articles, and manufacturing processes. Where issues are found, the position will assist and consult in determining and executing corrective action to address them.

The position should be skilled with Microsoft Office and record keeping. Responsibilities include entering and organizing test data meticulously into spreadsheets and ensuring the maintenance and organization of both supply and sample inventory.

The position will perform necessary maintenance and services on testing equipment to uphold efficiency and accuracy.

The position will act as a backup operator for T&D pilot plant equipment, facilitating the manufacture of product samples from existing and prototype tooling as required.

Job Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of Molded Fiber machine operations or equivalent technical experience
  • Understanding of calibration requirements for test equipment
  • Knowledge of physical product and process test procedures
  • Experience operating Huhtamaki proprietary C-machine equipment


Preferred
  • Computer proficiency (Windows, MS Office)
  • Math skills, including basic statistical analysis of data
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers
  • Good reasoning skills and basic understanding of our business to aid in prioritizing work


Environment
  • Work hours are usually 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. but could require after hours and weekend work to complete projects on time
  • Travel as needed; up to 10%
