Position: Material Handler/Forklift Operator
Location: Nashville, TN
Pay Rate - Starting at $19.02

You will play a vital role in the manufacturing, development, and production of packaging suppliers across Sonoco's protective packaging business.
**What youll be doing:**
* You will be responsible for safely handling all products and materials.
* Servicing the production lines by loading empty totes onto the production conveyors and unloading full totes off of the production conveyors.
* Maintaining a clean and uncluttered workspace.
* Inspecting equipment at the start of shift determining safety concerns, repairs needed & documentations.
* Reporting any safety hazards or concerns to the supervisor.
* Being in attendance to all kick-off meetings and safety training, with participating to include suggestions and recommendations.
* You will need to have the ability to follow a required specific sequence of steps in a process repetitively for an extended period of time.
* You have to be efficient and safe while maneuvering powered industrial vehicles (Forklifts) for the use in handling product, stacking, unloading & loading of shipments.
* You will need to organize the warehouse, product flow using a FIFO system and maximize product space.
* Reading and understanding shipping, receiving, and quality check instructions.
* Properly filling out shipping, receiving & quality documentation as needed such as BOLs.
* Interacting with truck drivers.

* You have previous experience as a forklift operator or material handler in a manufacturing /distribution environment.
* You have to have a get it done attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.
* You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality-focused is a must.
* Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.
* You will need to be able to perform repetitious duties, including stairs and standing for long periods of time.
