The anticipated hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000. POSITION SUMMARY

The Director - Corporate Relations is responsible for the comprehensive fundraising and sponsor development across the colleges varied public engagements: Strategic Initiatives Group (SIG), CIA Consulting (CIAC), and Advancement's fundraising/philanthropic initiatives.The primary responsibility of this role will be meeting revenue goals that support the school at both the Copia and Greystone campuses of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA).

As the Director - Corporate Relations, this role will join other members of a dynamic team of dedicated, goal-oriented fund-raising professionals.They work collaboratively as members of the Advancement Division team to maintain a highly integrated and seamless approach to furthering the strategic and financial goals of the Institute. Together with the rest of the senior management team (Vice President and Senior Officers), the Director bears responsibility for the success of strategies and systems deployed to meet annual and multi-year fund-raising and donor/alumni engagement strategies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet and exceed the annual sponsorship support goals for SIG leadership programs and for the CIA at Copia's public programs and special events through corporate based sponsorship.
  • Work with SIG, CIAC and Advancement teams to develop strategy for support and sponsorship outreach for each SIG leadership program, Consulting programs, and for Advancement Initiatives, for CIA Copia as well as for each current and potential SIG program supporter (e.g., company, trade association, foundation, government agency, etc.).
  • Develop and continue to refine the structure of sponsorship opportunities and benefits for each SIG program and assist in translating these into documents that are clear and compelling.
  • Work with a marketing professional on the Advancement team, develop innovative concepts for customized digital media programs for top tier SIG sponsors and other corporate, association and governmental prospects.
  • Educate other SIG team members and CIA participating chefs who will have contact with sponsors about the strategic needs and desires of these current and future partners.
  • Oversee and monitor sponsorship solicitation and donor stewardship by company and by program or initiative for reporting and analysis purposes to ensure targeted goals are met.
  • Collaborate with CIA Advancement team and other internal stakeholders to align corporate relations efforts with the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of annual and major donor prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Develop an annual plan for SIG fundraising travel for contractors and SIG team members within budgeted guidelines.
  • Create a process to facilitate the success of SIG and CIA California team members in presenting sponsorship opportunities to key corporate, association, government and foundation representatives visiting the CIA.
  • Focus efforts on the engagement of individuals, organizations, corporations and/or foundations (within and beyond the Napa Valley) interested in sponsoring CIA events.
  • Partner with the CIA team at Copia to leverage opportunities to work with current supporters to translate their engagement into support of CIA events.
  • Lead an effort to secure sponsorships for events produced and hosted by CIA at Copia.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.


Experience:

  • Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in fundraising, sales, or higher education with a documented success matrix.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CIA Degree.
  • Prior event planning and/or sponsored event management experience.
  • Culinary background, preferably with both back and front of the house experience.
  • Preference for work experience in the culinary, foodservice or hospitality fields, and/or professional background in culinary marketing agency, in food/culinary-related sales & marketing, or food/culinary communications.
  • Salesforce database experience.


REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience developing strategic business proposals and demonstrated proficiency in interacting with mid to senior-level corporate decision-makers.
  • Conceptual familiarity and experience with high-level corporate, higher education, and/or association strategic partnership development.
  • Strong computer experience, which must include abilities to work effectively with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, fundraising or sales databases. Mail merging knowledge required.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills required. Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment and maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the Advancement team.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and organizational skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Able to travel periodically to other CIA locations due to business needs.
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
  • Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
  • Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
