Position Overview
This individual will create and manage the daily, weekly, and monthly production plan while concurrently stocking packaging supplies by working with other members of the operational team to deliver on customer requirements. This individual will be responsible for managing the prepackaged inbound forecast, inbound railcar forecast, and maintaining the railcar pipeline inventories for Charleston Warehouses. Other responsibilities will include direct communication with customers on issues, RCA completion, RC inventory reporting, packaging supply inventory reporting and overall logistics planning support.
Essential Job Functions
Inbound Planning Function:
Responsible for daily reporting on the rolling railcar pipeline and dwell times.
Establish, monitor, and communicate a detailed daily and weekly production plan for all parts of the operation to meet customer service requirements.
Responsible for communicating and updating production plan daily in the WMS to support rail team switches.
Work directly with customers and rail lines to understand pain points and create action items to solve current and ongoing issues.
Responsible for managing the railcar forecast for all customers and monitoring forecast vs actual volumes weekly.
Responsible for EOM reporting and the subsequent billing process
Other duties as assigned.
Materials Coordinator Function:
Manage a system for operational supplies across all aspects of our operation.
Review reorder signals to determine packaging supply requirements to meet the production plan, the appropriate quantities for orders, and scheduled delivery dates based on lead times.
Create requisitions, manage order delivery, and verify receipt count/condition for all packaging supplies.
Work with management to negotiate competitive supply prices and manage any supplier trials necessary to maintain supply cost position.
Lead and Manage vendor supply issues and special topics.
Monitor and reconcile packaging supplies inventories.
Responsible for EOM reporting and the subsequent billing process
Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills/Abilities
- 1-3 years of experience in logistics planning or materials management.
- Background in inventory management and generation of systems to manage process.
- Self-starter (requires minimal supervision).
- Strong problem solver with proven ability to manage issues.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- High level of organizational and prioritization skills with proven ability to multi-task.
- High level of detail-orientation.
