**Summary**
Prepares food for service according to menu plan and standardized recipes in a safe efficient and timely manner.
**Essential Position Functions**
* Prepares all foods according to menu and recipes.
* Suggests menu or recipe changes so that leftovers and any over-stocked items are used in a timely manner.
* Ensures the proper preparation, portioning, and serving of foods ad indicated on the menu cycle and the standardized recipes. Tastes and prepares food to determine quality and palatability.
* Prepares food so that it is ready for service at a specified time.
* Stores, labels, and dates all foods properly.
* Advises supervisor and/or hostess of any special instructions prior to service.
* Assists with inventory.
* Stays within food budget guidelines.
* Cleans area and equipment after meal service.
* Collects serving utensils for proper meal portion control.
* Dependable and able to meet schedule requirements (attendance and punctuality) with no restrictions.
* Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
**Education/Experience:**
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
* A minimum of one year previous experience in food preparation required.
