Position Summary
This role is responsible for operating ditch witch and/or Vermeer drills as well as locate the directional drills path installation of innerduct for underground fiber optic construction.
Job Responsibilities
- Place duct and fiber optic cable utilizing directional drilling and additional equipment, including excavators, backhoes, cable blowing and pulling equipment
- Assist Foreman in ensuring jobs are completed in a timely manner, meeting customer requirements
- Assist with on-site installation of underground fiber optic cables
- Operate directional drills and equipment
- Pothole existing utilities when needed
- Prepare entry and exit pits
- Assist tie-ins on conduit
- Drive trucks and equipment to job sites
- Abide by and follow company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Qualifications - High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Class A Commercial Driver's License is required
- Must have clean driving record and be insurable
- 2-years of HDD locating experience
- 2-years of drilling experience
- Experience operating construction equipment, including backhoes, front-end loaders, air compressors, and trenchers
- Experience operating hydraulic reel trailers (preferred)
- Knowledge in F-2, F-5 and Falcon series locating equipment
- Ability to operate a Vermeer/Ditch Witch Directional Drill
- Ability to locate and steer drill head for drill rig operator
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
