Job Details

Position Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is to provide initial care and treatment to patients with physician supervision and in accordance with established regulations, privileges, and protocols, the practice of the Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practitioner includes health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases for patients of all ages.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Treats patients of Hospital and its designated sites in a diligent, knowledgeable and skillful manner in accordance with currently acceptable standards of practice in his/her professional specialty, applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and accrediting body standards.
Functions within the scope of practice as directed and supervised by their supervisory physician and/or alternate supervisory physicians.
Consults with physicians on Hospital's medical staff concerning matters beyond or outside the APP's professional ability.
Shall assist in the training and education of students, nurses, and paramedical personnel as requested by Hospital in matters within APP's professional specialty.
Performs the duties specified herein in Hospital or at other designated sites provided by Hospital.
Complies with all policies, rules and regulations of Hospital which are applicable to his/her duties.
Stays current and comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Maintains membership in good standing as applicable on the Medical Staff of SCH, maintains unrestricted licensure or certification to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and shall comply with the constitution, bylaws, policies and procedures, and rules and regulations promulgated by the Medical Staff of SCH.

Education:
Completion of an accredited Physician's Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Program (APP).

Experience:
As required for Physician's Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Certifications.

Licensure/Certification:
Certification by the Kentucky State Board of Medical Licensure and in good standing with the KBN required. In addition, the following certifications are required:
BLS AHA-ACLS ATLS PALS ALSO NRP

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and be on feet for long periods of time. Must be able to tolerate PPE for long periods of time.
