**JOB SUMMARY**

Under the direct supervision of the Security Captain, officers provide protection of work sites, personnel, and assets from events such as trespassing, theft, vandalism, harassment, assault, and other disruptive incidents at the Marathon Refinery in Anacortes, WA. Performing access control is a core function of this position.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

* High school diploma or GED

* Ability to speak, write, and comprehend English

* Minimum of 19 years of age

* Valid drivers license

* Able to obtain a First Aid/CPR Certification

* Able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)

* Able to obtain a State of Washington Security Officer license

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

* Two or more years of experience in private security, law enforcement, military, or corrections within the past five years. Military experience in an applicable specialty may be substituted for law enforcement experience.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

* Operate a motor vehicle during both the day and night in a variety of settings varying weather conditions

* Perform searches of people, vehicles, buildings, and large outdoor areas

* Confront suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriate

* Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters

* Effectively and coherently communicate over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications

* Utilize clear and appropriate communication skills when communicating with people

* Write incident reports

* Ability to use computers with common office related software

* Read, comprehend, and employ policies and procedures

* Maintain composure and control of the situation

* Observe, recall, and distinguish characteristics of persons, suspects, automobiles, location and property

* Willingness to perform others duties as required

* Willingness to work at various positions or posts and rotate work shifts as required

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

The employees work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items. Applicant will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical and WorkSaver exam. The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.
