About the Shift:

About the Position:

The Sterile Processing Technician shall be responsible for providing practical knowledge in sterile processing and the distribution of manufactured supplies and equipment. They have seven technical responsibilities: reprocessing, decontamination, disinfection, preparation, packaging, sterilization, and distribution. Assists nurse manager in areas delegated. Facilitates an effective day to day operational schedule with the OR and SPD to provide efficient flow and completion of surgery schedule. Represents the department in all aspects of customer service

Regulatory Requirements:

Education:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Certified SPD Technician preferred. Experience:
1. Desirable characteristics include at least one year of experience as an Instrument Technician in a Sterile Processing Department environment and familiarity with State and Federal Regulatory policies and procedures.
2. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
3. Must have excellent written, oral, and non-verbal communication skills. Must be able to function effectively under stress.
4. Will work any shift to cover the needs of the department as required by nurse manager. Will be required to be on call.

Licenses/Certificates:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Certified SPD Technician preferred
  3. Certifications as indicated by the Steward Certification document.
