Position Details:
Title: Field Service Technician
Location: Houston, TX
Shift: Dayshift
Compensation: $50K base + approximately $20K commission and up to $15K in travel bonuses. Estimated total compensation of $85K.
SUMMARY OF COMPENSATION: In addition to base salary and full reimbursement of all job related expenses, the company pays the technician an additional $150 per day for every day traveling or working away from home that is billable to customer. This is increased to $200 per day for weekend / holiday / offshore day. COMMISSION ON PARTS INSTALLED: the company pays the technician $25 to $250 per part, depending on degree of difficulty of part.

Travel: 50% travel. Occasional foreign travel (Mexico, Panama, Canada, Bahamas) will be required.

Position Description: Install, service and maintain Impressed Current Cathodic Protection and Marine Growth Prevention systems on cruise ships, cargo ships, tankers, tugboats, oil rigs and government vessels (USN, Coast Guard, MARAD).

Applicant must:
--- Exhibit the ability to use and understand industry standard instruments and testing techniques.
--- Have an interest in and understanding of basic electricity and electronics, along with proven mechanical and electrical skills.
--- Exhibit the ability to recognize problems, explain and perform corrective measures and be able to work independently.
--- Exhibit the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with the customer and co-workers and generate basic written reports.
--- Work entails the troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of corrosion control equipment onboard ships.
--- Technicians also supervise and assist shipyard personnel during the installation or replacement of electronic equipment and hull components (anodes and reference cells) while ships are on drydock as well as wiring of machinery and working on up to three-phase 480v.
--- There will also be many one-day troubleshooting jobs where the technician visits the vessel pierside or at terminal to perform service or system checks. Most project work (drydocking of vessels or new builds) is done in USA shipyards located in the Gulf of Mexico and on the East and West Cost. Primarily, this position is being filled to address work on the Gulf of Mexico.

Requirements:
--- Some shipboard experience is required. Must be willing to work in height
--- Experience on offshore platforms or drill ships a plus but not required.
--- Must be able to travel occasionally to Mexico, Panama, Canada, Bahamas.
--- Typical job length is 3 to 5 days during a ship or rig's drydocking period.
--- Successful candidate will be expected to maintain a vehicle in working order to provide transportation to / from local jobs.
--- Must be able to obtain a passport.
