Friendly, helpful and attractive in style and demeanor. Must be able to soothe waiting customers, make incidental conversation and work with grace under pressure. Skills & Requirements To greet every guest arriving in our restaurant, as well as controlling and directing the flow of seating. Each guest should be sat in a timely manner at a clean table with menus, and any highchairs or children's menu if needed. The host(ess) is to communicate with the Floor Manager when dealing with a "wait list" and quoting a wait time.In some cases there will be bussers on the floor, but generally the hostess will bus tables and prepare them for seating.Knowledge of every position is important, who is in what section, manager on duty, menu items, specials, hours of operation, etc. The host(ess) may be responsible in helping out with retail sales, answering phones, and taking To Go orders.When you are on a wait, you will have three hostess functions that need to be performed:The GREETER meets the guest at the front door, takes the name, hands our pagers, and quotes the wait time.The LEADER plans which tables should be seated, when tables are turning and calculates wait time. This function can be performed by the floor manager.The SEATER literally takes the party to the table, hands out menus and can also be used as a busser. Qualifications
